EVOLUCIÓN DE LA PATRIA POTESTAD EN EL DERECHO MEXICANO A PARTIR DEL CÓDIGO CIVIL DEL DISTRITO FEDERAL Y TERRITORIO DE LA BAJA CALIFORNIA DE 1870 A LA ACTUALIDAD

Joel Francisco JIMÉNEZ GARCÍA *

This is a legal and doctrinaire analysis of the institution of patrias potes-tas, from the Civil Code of the Federal District and Territory of Baja California of 1870 to the present, and it also reviews the Civil Code of 1884, the Law of Family Relationships of 1917, the Civil Code of 1928 and the reforms made to this last code. It attempts to explain the transformation undergone by patrias potestas from the Civil Code of 1870 to the present. For such purpose, it has consulted the original texts of the different ordinances and, in such case, has consulted the corresponding publications in the Official Federal Gazette, as well as the doctrinaire works of the period, in order to enable us to better understand the mind set of each historic period.
