LA EXTRADICIÓN Y LA JURISDICCIÓN UNIVERSAL. EL CASO CAVALLO

José Luis SIQUEIROS *

The theses contained in the resolution of the Plenary Supreme Justice Court of the Nation in the amparo review filed by the Argentine national Ricardo Miguel Cavallo against acts of the Executive Branch which order his extradition to Spain (Amparo in review 140/2002), at the request of Judge Baltasar Garzón, have stirred great interest in international legal opinion. This brief study analyzes the antecedents to the case along with the reasoning on which our highest court's decision was founded, as well as the theses approved by its Plenary session. The author concludes with some reflections on this important precedent.
