ORGANIZACIÓN MUNDIAL DE LA PROPIEDAD INTELECTUAL

Pedro Alfonso LABARIEGA VILLANUEVA *

That 90% of the countries of the World are members of WIPO evi-dences the importance of this organization. The frenetic mutation of technological progress poses important challenges to intellectual property. This obligates an awareness of its origins, of the functions it fulfills, of the basic principles which bind it together, of its legal nature, of the inter-national treaties it administers, and of all that which would permit its justification as a specialized intergovernmental entity of the United Nations, as champion of the emerging rights of this International Entity.
