On March 13 and 20, 2002, a Seminar-Workshop was held at the Institute of Legal Research of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, on the theory and practice of international adoption, the purpose or objective of which was fundamentally, to create a forum for discussion of the Hague Convention of May 29, 1993, on the protection of minors and for cooperation in matters of international adoption and its implementation in the Federal District. During the sessions, some extremely important subjects were raised, such as the irinciple of the minor's interests being superior to, among other things, both administrative as well as judicial procedures in international adoption; the Seminar culminated with a series of conclusions being reached by the persons in attendance who were from the Superior Justice Tribunal of the Federal District, the National System for Integral Development of the Family (DIF), attorneys from the Centers for Private Assistance and academicians from the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
