Comparing Media Regulation Between France, the USA, Mexico and Ghana

Robert McKenzie

McKenzie offers a comparative description and analysis of the legal framework regulating radio and television in four countries: France, the United States, Mexico, and Ghana. He analyzes regulations, particularly in relation to the content and functioning of the communications media and their external influence in the industry. The author also studies the role that the respective governments play in regulating the media and in their operation with an eye toward pluralistic, independent and responsible informational systems. McKenzie places special emphasis on contrasting the regulatory and monitoring agencies for radio and television in the four countries to conclude with a comparative general analysis.
